 Superb cam

The Nikon Cool Pix P510 camera is fantastic. After years of taking pics that were barely worth printing, this camera makes even me look like I understand exactly what I'm doing. The zoom is GREAT. My child is a softball pitcher and cheerleader and I can get close-up shots of her right from the bleachers. I have not even found out how to utilize all the setups yet however simply in the automatic setup, I'm getting super photos. My sibling is purchasing one now too. I will never ever should purchase an additional cam.

Best zoom

It has been years now and I still utilize this little puppy a lot. I bought a D600 with a 300 mm zoom and the Nikon P510 at maximum zoom gives me a better picture. Very little. However if you focus with Photoshop the D600 pixelates prior to the P510 Nikon does. At 16meg, the images are expert quality if not cropped. Normally I am dealing with the d600 now however for quick things, stimulate of the special events, and as a back up cam this little guy actually does. And it can take a beating. I'm on the ocean a lot and amazed that it still works after all the banging around.

A terrific little camera!

I acquired this cam because I desired a cam with a long zoom! The Nikon P510 does not dissatisfy. Even handheld the cam manages to get rid of movement blur at maximum 1000mm equivalent zoom. The image quality is exceptional if you are not a "pixel peeper". There is constantly some noise in digital video camera images and when you stuff 16 megapixels into a tiny little image sensor the trouble just worsens. But this cam handles noise very efficiently and still keeps great image detail.
